Growing up Melissa’s father had a small hobby farm raising goats, cattle, and chickens. At a young age Melissa fell in love with animals and dreamt to one day have a farm of her own! Through high school, Melissa was enrolled in a program known as the FFA (Future Farmers of America). The knowledge and experience she obtained through this program encouraged her to work towards the farm lifestyle she’s been dreaming of.

Starting out her career, she worked in a holistic pet store, where she continued her love for animals. At this store Melissa met a Chamberlin staff member. Soon after this meet, Melissa began working alongside this event manager, during the summers when not in school. Once graduated from high school, she continued her education at Northern Michigan University in Marquette, MI. Between semesters studying Business Management, she worked as a childcare provider both up-state and down-state. “I loved working with the various age groups, and helping kids develop cognitively” said Melissa. Here she completed certificate courses in Early Childhood Development.

After receiving a Business Degree from Northern, Melissa moved back home to the Lansing area and began working for Chamberlin full time! Working towards expanding her hobby farm, she enjoys sharing her animals with families. Melissa said “I love bringing my animals out for everyone to enjoy, the excitement on kids’ faces is why I love doing what I do!”
